Medicare advantage plans offer more options, especially for senior citizens who may require additional medical treatments. These plans are often referred to as Part C or MA plans and are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. To enroll in an advantage plan you must be entitled to Medicare A and B. You also need to continue paying your Medicare Part B premiums. These premiums could be paid by your or a third party. A Medicare advantage plan replaces your original Medicare. This means You’ll get your Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage but from the Medicare Advantage Plan and not Original Medicare.
If you have a Medicare Advantage Plans, you’re always covered for emergency and urgent care. Medicare Advantage Plans also offer additional coverage related to vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. Most include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).
